Please be respectful. If there’s something that you think the other did wrong, report it to us using the complaints form and we will try to solve it.
If you have a complaint regarding your beta/writer, please complete the complaints form with the relevant information.
For any questions or suggestions contact us by using the contact form.
Please remember that some of the writers don’t have English as their mother tongue and make more errors. If you think you won’t have the time/patience to beta a certain story, tell the author as quickly and as politely as possible.
If there are any changes in the information contained in your profile, please modify them as soon as possible.
Respect each beta reader’s options.
If your beat reader doesn’t reply within seven (7) days, please let us know via the contact or complaints form.
If one of the beta-ed stories was rejected at one of the archives, it might be useful for your beta reader to find out the reasons why it was rejected, the feedback on the beta’s profile being the best way to do this, but again, please be polite about it.
If you have submitted a request, but you no longer need the beta services, please let them know by using the ’Contact Beta’ link on their profile.
Be sure to mention if the story you are sending is part of a series or longer story.
Having more than one beta can be good, but please don’t send requests to more than four (4) betas at a time.

SGX-8374 (Beta) (http://www.sgx.amuseingwriters.co.uk)
is a non-profit website that seeks to provide the following service:
1: Provide an easy to use and navigate directory of beta readers for Stargate SG-1 and
Stargate Atlantis fan fiction writers.
To do this, we will:
a) Act upon any complaints made towards a beta or writer in a quick and efficient manner;
b) Monitor initial beta requests from writers and the response from the beta or betas.
2: Offer as many writers as is reasonably possible a process that allows each to work with a beta
reader to improve their writing skills.
a) Create clear guidelines on what type of stories each beta will accept;
b) Make it clear what time frame each Beta will take on their stories;
c) Recruit and keep talented beta readers and feedback given by a writers
who has used their service.
All users of our beta reading service and visitors to our
website MUST comply with and understand the following:
- SGX-8374 (Beta) attempts to monitor its beta requests and replies for messages we believe to be inappropriate or in conflict with the site's interests, but does not guarantee suitability of content for all readers. You acknowledge that SGX-8374 (Beta) is used at your own risk.
- Although we provide links to fan fiction websites, we are not responsible for any material at these sites. You acknowledge that you visit these websites at your own risk.
- We take no responsibility for under aged writers who choose to write content beyond their age limits or betas who choose to read it.
- SGX-8374 (Beta) will not collect any personal identifiable information about you (e.g., your real name, address or telephone number) if you provide this information during signup or in a beta request, you do so at your own risk.
- SGX-8374 (Beta) is a list of volunteers with busy lives. When submitting a story to be beta read, you acknowledge that although your request beta will strive to return your story within a reasonable amount of time, they cannot make promises. Please be patient.
- When requesting a beta reader, you agree to provide an active email address so that a beta may reply to your request, return your story or contact you if required.
- SGX-8374 (Beta) does no post writers stories to any archive, group or other story listing, this task belongs to the writer and only the writer.
- Although we at SGX-8374 (Beta) encourage freedom of expression, we reserve the right to remove or limit access to any beta reader or writer who signs up and fail to respect the rules.
